I have known some progressives/liberals that would not touch a truly conservative website/publication with a ten-foot pole. They absolutely refuse to listen to any conservative talk radio. Yet they will readily tell you how much they hate it or how stupid it is. Sometimes they will tell me how much they lie, hang up on callers, or how rude they are. Then when you really pin them down, they invariably will say (if they are honest) that they either have never listened to a conservative show or they listen “occasionally”. Now, MY definition of occasionally means “probably once every couple of weeks or so” . And to me “occasionally” continues up to and includes the present time. Or else I would say “I used to listen occasionally”.
I honestly think that many liberals are afraid that if they listen to or read anything conservative, by simple exposure to those ideas they will somehow be converted. There, I said it! I honestly think they are not confident in their beliefs and that is where the fear comes from.
I am very confident in my conservative ideas and have no fear of conversion to the progressive agenda. If that were to happen I would have come to that conclusion by critically thinking and evaluating those positions and changing my mind. That is not something I am afraid of. In fact, I welcome differing opinions. I expose them to the light of day and examine them thoroughly. And when it comes to political thought my guiding light is the Constitution of the United States of America and the actual writings of our founding fathers. I go to the source instead of taking someone elses’ word for it. If someone tells me something is in the constitution I go read it for myself!
Yes! Citizenship is damn hard work!! It is not for the faint of heart!
Outside of parenthood, there is no more rewarding endeavor than Citizenship!
