The real problem that I see here has to do with the fact that Joe Lieberman was talking about introducing a bill making it easier for the government to strip people of their citizenship. Do we really want to make it easier for the government to strip people’s citizenship without even being convicted of anything, so that then we can put them on the hit list and have them killed (apparently, we don’t even have to strip their citizenship for that!), all with no trial whatsoever?! NOT ME!!

All they have to do now is broaden the definition of terrorist and/or terrorist activity and presto I am on the list!!

I see an extremely slippery slope here. I can in no way be in favor of this!

I have known some progressives/liberals that would not touch a truly conservative website/publication with a ten-foot pole. They absolutely refuse to listen to any conservative talk radio. Yet they will readily tell you how much they hate it or how stupid it is. Sometimes they will tell me how much they lie, hang up on callers, or how rude they are. Then when you really pin them down, they invariably will say (if they are honest) that they either have never listened to a conservative show or they listen “occasionally”. Now, MY definition of occasionally means “probably once every couple of weeks or so” . And to me “occasionally” continues up to and includes the present time. Or else I would say “I used to listen occasionally”.

I honestly think that many liberals are afraid that if they listen to or read anything conservative, by simple exposure to those ideas they will somehow be converted. There, I said it! I honestly think they are not confident in their beliefs and that is where the fear comes from.

I am very confident in my conservative ideas and have no fear of conversion to the progressive agenda. If that were to happen I would have come to that conclusion by critically thinking and evaluating those positions and changing my mind. That is not something I am afraid of. In fact, I welcome differing opinions. I expose them to the light of day and examine them thoroughly. And when it comes to political thought my guiding light is the Constitution of the United States of America and the actual writings of our founding fathers. I go to the source instead of taking someone elses’ word for it. If someone tells me something is in the constitution I go read it for myself!

Yes! Citizenship is damn hard work!! It is not for the faint of heart!

Outside of parenthood, there is no more rewarding endeavor than Citizenship!

I am really hoping this works! In my opinion, the truth is that Obama can be held responsible for some things involving his administrations reaction (or lack-there-of) to this crisis, but he is not responsible for the spill and he is definitely not responsible for fixing it. His daughter Maaliya’s question “Daddy, did you plug the hole yet?” is really the same thing many Americans are expecting of him. She is 11. Expecting her daddy to be able to solve this problem is fine for her, and to be expected of a child. But for the American people to have a similar paternalistic expectation of him is, well, childish and extremely unrealistic. To be sure, Obama bears some responsibility for this kind of expectation given his and some of his followers promotion of him as our “Saviour-In-Chief”, but it seems that some expected him to go down to Louisiana, raise his staff, and instantly make all of the oil stop flowing and disappear.

The American people have been building this unrealistic relationship at least since the days of FDR in his sweater sitting by the fireside. Do you think any president is really going to say no to these expectations?! It is a major ego booster!! What politician doesn’t just lap it up when the people tell them they can practically perform miracles? I think our recent presidents have actually begun to believe and promote the hype on this. In any emergency now it seems that many Americans look up to the sky and wait for the Big Government Manna to fall from Washington instead of getting right to work doing whatever they can personally to alleviate the suffering. It’s the problem of instantly asking “What is the government doing about this?” instead of “What can I do about this?”

It’s time to stop waiting for “Big Daddy Government” to solve our problems and to end the people’s childish expectations of our government. Think and act for yourself.

“Ask not what your country can do for you, but what you can do for your country” is part of JFK’s inaugural speech. Here it is with more context:

“In the long history of the world, only a few generations have been granted the role of defending freedom in its hour of maximum danger. I do not shank from this responsibility – I welcome it. I believe he had it right. This paternalistic attitude that has flourished in the last seventy or so years is primarily what has now led us to the socialism that we have today. Our democratic republic is in greater danger now than it has ever been since the Civil War. We are one of the “few generations” JFK so eloquently spoke of! I, for one, am taking up that fight!

Have you heard anywhere in the media that the congress says they have to vote on this tomorrow because it is an e-m-e-r-g-e-n-c-y (does any of this sound even slightly familiar!?)? Is anyone really talking about this? I have read two things about this that I don’t like so far. 1. It gives power to the Treasury Secretary to bailout big financial companies directly. No more going to Congress and having to let the people know about it! The Treasury Secretary’s new job description should simply read “ATM”! 2. The government will now have the power to track your financial transactions with no reason whatsoever, in the name of “protecting” you from credit abuse.

No thanks! I can do that myself!

Wow! This is great! Pretty soon none of us will be responsible for protecting ourselves at all! We won’t even need common sense anymore! Boy, am I glad that Big Bro is lookin’ out for all of us!!

“President Obama on Saturday vowed to press for a new international order “that can resolve the challenges of our times” and help the United States defeat Al Qaeda and other threats to freedom.”

Too bad they are not getting rid of the biggest threats to our freedoms, the Obama administration and most of the people in congress (Republican and Democrat!)! But I have a feeling the American people are going to do that job in November 2010 and 2012! And that’s good, because it is our job and no one else’s. I’m ready to do some house-cleaning!! Are you?

In order to get the mess cleaned up properly we will have to do a hazardous material cleanup on Capitol Hill and at 1600 Pennsylvania Ave.. We’ll also have to call Orkin in to irradicate all the pests and parasitic infestations. It’ll be a big job and it will take a while. After that we will have to make sure we do regular maintenance treatments to prevent a recurrence, because you know those bastards are impossible to COMPLETELY irradicate. It’s a never-ending job, but generations to come will thank us for starting the process.
